Pub of the Season Winter 2018
the Pub of the Season Award was presented to the Wainhouse Tavern Upper Washer Lane, Halifax (just below King Cross, Halifax) on Wednesday 28th February. The weather was dreadful, but- CAMRA Halifax and Calderdale turned out in force, considering the conditions, to present the award and issue the banner. Unfortunately, we did not have the certificate at the time, because the certificate holder was hijacked by a snow drift.
The night was celebrated by the pub putting on all six beers from the opening night in 2013 and selling them at 2013 prices !
Pub of the Season Spring 2017
On Wednesday 24th May, the Branch presented The Market Tavern in Brighouse with the Spring 2017 Pub of Season Award. The Market Tavern only opened in February 2016 and since that time has established a high reputation for the quality of its cask ales and is highly thought of in the branch area and beyond.
Newly appointed branch chair, Richard Lee (second left), presents Adam, Debbie and Snap with the Pub of the Season certificate. He praised the high quality ale served in the micropub and commented on the excellent customer service provided.
Pub of the Season Winter 2016/17
On Wednesday 6th February we presented The Hogs Head Brewery & Bar of Sowerby Bridge with the award of Pub of the Season. This award is given four times a year to a pub that has demonstrated consistent good quality beer over the previous few months. This seasons award goes to a pub that has not only served excellent quality beer but it is somewhat unique in that it brews them itself. Halifax & Calderdale CAMRA would like to thank the staff at the Hogs Head for providing a great range of beers. Of course it is not only the beer that makes a great pub – the staff behind the bar and also the brewers should also take pride in giving us another difficult decision. It is thanks to their endeavours that it has made the Hogs Head Brewhouse & Bar such an asset to the Public House Community.
Pub of the Season Autumn 2016
On Monday 7th November we presented Calan’s of Hebden Bridge with the award of Pub of the Season. This award is given four times a year to a pub that has demonstrated consistent good quality beer over the previous few months. This seasons award goes to a pub that has recovered brilliantly from the devastating floods around Christmas so much so that it was recognised for inclusion in the 2017 Good Beer Guide. Halifax & Calderdale Camra would like to thank the team at Calan’s for providing a great range of beers, a great team of staff to serve them and a comfortable pub to drink them in. It is down to their enthusiasm for real ale that has made it a richly deserved award winner.
